Many years of previous research is finally being unveiled with a wealth of scientific studies demonstrating that selenium has potential as a selective chemotherapeutic agent. The Nutritional Oncology Research Institute, or NORI for short, developed a protocol for administering high dose selenium and verified in clinical case studies that it had enormous value in cancer therapy. Through further research, the NORI protocol has evolved into a combination of a unique diet and a cocktail of three nutraceuticals.
An important feature of the NORI protocol is the synergy created between the ‘methionine restricted diet’ and high dose selenium. Methionine restriction sensitizes cancer cells to ‘sodium selenite’ by lowering glutathione, which increases oxidative stress to these cells.
The NORI approach is to leverage diet for maximum benefit while using a straightforward and highly targeted method for selectively killing cancer cells. A rapidly building series of case studies is demonstrating the effectiveness of the NORI protocol used alone or in combination with conventional therapies.
